Today I paid my respects to the buck that someone poached and dumped on my road back around the first of November. As you can see the natural predators have pretty much eaten every bit of him except for a few remaining bones.
The day I found him I drug the body off the road to about the top of that second picture. Over time the scavengers that came by drug the corpse about twenty or thirty feet further into the woods.
Even found evidence that someone’s pet came by to check it out. The collar was laying right in the middle of the drag trail.
I’ve had a few folks ask me if I’ll be collecting this guy’s bones. I don’t plan to. The first times I was around him, right after he’d been dumped off there was a grossly negative vibe around him. I’ve been collecting dead stuff since I was a kid and there have only been a couple of other times when I found something and left it because of a similar feeling. I’m all about not letting stuff go to waste but this guy needs to be at peace in the woods.
