Shadyufo's Tumblr

The tumblr of Shadyufo. Here you will find dead stuff, art, and dead stuff AS art!

Played around for an hour or so at my creek yesterday. I loaded up on fossils for the shop and found a few neat little bone scraps too. Deer rib, coyote/dog scapula, and super weathered coyote/dog pelvis half.

12) Favorite place to find bones?

Folks ask me all the time where I find dead stuff and my answer is usually ‘here, there, and everywhere.’ I find bones in woods, pastures, ravines, and creeks all the time. I’m always haunting local lonely country roads on the look-out for roadkill to drag home and clean. I also frequent loads of antique stores and flea markets on the hunt for macabre treasures. Friends and family are always saving stuff for me too. And of course I buy a ton of stuff online from other folks that find it or hunters and taxidermists that often times would be throwing them away other wise.

But my very most favorite spot to look for bones is in the creek that runs through my property. I’ve lived here for about nine years now and I’ve found a ton of amazing things in that creek. It’s a large creek, running through many acres of livestock pastures and woods and it floods frequently so new things are always washing in.

Here are a few pictures of my creek and just a small sample of the goodies I’ve found in it!

Creeking Around.

I played around down at the creek for a while today. One of the main gravel bars where I do most of my fossil hunting washed away! There are still loads of other spots down there though.

Deer nasal bone. Also found in the creek the other day.
