Had to take this one to the vet today because she has a UTI. Poor puppy dog.
I absolutely adore this dog and she has had such a ridiculous life.
I found her running on the road back around 2007 and she was absolutely skin and bones and had nine puppies tucked away in a barn nearby.
Another lady that helped us rescue her took her until the puppies were weaned and after she found homes for them I brought Molly home with me.
A year or two later she got out of her yard and ran over to the neighbor’s house where her pack of half-feral dogs grabbed Molly through their fence and mauled her. Had to rush her to the ER vet since it was Christmas eve and get her multiple bite wounds stitched up. They x-rayed her then for fear of her lung being punctured from one of the worst bites (which it wasn’t thankfully) and in the process found a large piece of buckshot embedded in her chest from where someone had shot her before we rescued her.
A couple years after that ordeal she started having seizures so ever since then she’s been on phenobarb twice a day.
Today I took her to the vet after seeing blood in her urine. They did an x-ray to rule out bladder stones (none showed up thankfully!) but they did find another big hunk of buckshot near her pelvis.
So poor old Molly has had a rough life. She’s covered up in knotty scars and bald spots, terrified of the sound of gunfire, fireworks, and thunder to the point of just collapsing on several occasions, she’s afraid of men, people that smoke, and most other dogs, but she’s the biggest sweetheart of a dog ever and I am utterly smitten with her.
I apologize for rambling but I felt like sharing her story.
Soaking up some rays.
It only takes three seconds to show why my darling Molly isn’t usually allowed in my bedroom.
